It is basic and readily form of salt with acids. The base, stearate salt, and esters are poorly dispersible in water. Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate is an ester of erythromycin advisable for oral administration. Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate is chemically known as erythromycin 2'-(ethylsuccinate). Molecular formula of the drug is C43H75NO16 and molecular weight is 862.06

E.E.S. (erythromycin Ethylsuccinate) Granules are predetermined for restructuring with water. Each 5-mL teaspoonful of reconstituted cherry-flavored suspension involves Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate equal to 200 mg of erythromycin. The enjoyable tastes of fruit-flavored liquids are available for oral administration.

E.E.S. 200 Liquid (Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate): Each 5-mL teaspoonful of fruit-flavored suspension contains Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate equivalent to 200 mg of erythromycin. This liquid is supplied in 1 pint bottle and in 100-mL

E.E.S. (Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate) 400 Liquid: Each 5-mL teaspoonful of orange-flavored suspension contains Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate equivalent to 400 mg of erythromycin. This liquid is supplied in 1 pint bottle and in 100-mL

Granules and ready-made suspensions highly recommendable for pediatric use but can also be used in adults.

Indications:

To reduce the advancement of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the influences of E.E.S. and other antibacterial drugs; E.E.S. should be used strictly to treat or avert infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by inclined bacteria.

E.E.S. is used in the treatment of infections caused by inclined strains of the nominated organisms in the diseases listed below:-

Streptococcus pneumonia,  Upper respiratory tract infections of mild to moderate degree caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or Haemophilus influenzae (when used collectively with adequate doses of sulfonamides, since number of strains of H. Influenzae (acute viral infection) are not inclined to the erythromycin concentrations commonly achieved).

Lower-respiratory tract infections of mild to moderate severity caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Streptococcus pyogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes results to Listeriosis.

Skin and skin structure infections of mild to moderate severity caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or Staphylococcus aureus (resistant staphylococci may emerge during treatment).

Respiratory tract infections are caused due to Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Some clinical studies suggest that erythromycin may be helpful in the prophylaxis of pertussis in seen susceptible individuals. Pertussis (bawling cough) caused by Bordetella pertussis. Erythromycin is effective in decreasing or curing the organism from the nasopharynx of already influenced individuals assimilating them noninfectious.

Diphtheria: Infections due to Corynebacterium diphtheriae, as an appendage to antitoxin, to conserve establishment of carriers and to eliminate the organism in carriers.

Erythrasma: In the treatment of infections caused due to Corynebacterium minutissimum.

Abdominal amebiasis caused by Entamoeba histolytica (oral erythromycins only). Extraenteric amebiasis needs treatment with other agents.
