Generic Name: tazarotene topical (ta ZAR oh teen)

Fabior (tazarotene) consists of a compound similar to vitamin A. It helps the skin to reaffirm itself more quickly and may improve the appearance and texture of skin. Fabior foam is used to treat acne vulgaris in adults and adolescents more than 12 years of their age. The drug may also be used for direction not listed in this medication guide. Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds while consuming this medication. It can make you sunburn more easily. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) when you are outdoors.

Drug Description:

Fabior (tazarotene) Foam, 0.1% contains the compound tazarotene, a representative of the acetylenic class of retinoids. It is for topical/external use only.

Chemically, tazarotene is ethyl 6-[(4,4-dimethylthiochroman-6-yl)ethynyl] nicotinate. The Molecular Formula: C21H21NO2S and Molecular Weight: 351.46.

Tazarotene is a pale yellow to nearly yellow substance. Fabior Foam is dispensed from an aluminum can compromised with a hydrocarbon (propane/n-butane/isobutane) propellant. Fabior Foam contains tazarotene, 1 mg/g in flowing-based nearly white to off-white foam vehicle consisting of butylated hydroxytoluene, ceteareth-12, citric acid anhydrous, diisopropyl adipate, light mineral oil, potassium citrate monohydrate, potassium sorbate, purified water, and sorbic acid.

Indications:

Fabior (tazarotene) Foam, 0.1% is indicated for the topical/external treatment of acne vulgaris in patients above 12 years of their age.

Dosage:

The drug is for topical/external use only. It is strictly not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use. It should be applied once daily in the infected area at evening after washing with a mild cleanser and fully drying it. Take a small amount of foam into the palm of the hand. By using fingertips, apply enough foam by lightly covering the entire affected areas of the face and/or upper trunk with a thin layer; slowly massage the foam into the skin until the foam disappears. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes. Wash hands firmly after application.

In case of undue irritation (redness, peeling of skin, or discomfort) occurs, patients should quickly reduce recurrence of applying or temporarily discontinue the ongoing treatment.

Overdose:

In case of over application of the form you may victim symptoms like: severe redness, peeling of skin or discomfort. The foam may be harmful if swallowed.

Using Guide for the Drug:

  • Refer to extra patient leaflet which is available with Fabior foam packing.
  • Apply Fabior foam once daily, before going to bed. Before applying Fabior foam, softly wash the infected area (face and/or upper trunk) with a mild cleanser, and fully dry the area. Shake the package/container of the foam well before each use.
  • Allocate little amount of foam into the palm of your hand. By using your fingertips, apply enough foam to slightly dress the entire affected area with a thin film. Gently massage the foam into the skin where you had applied the foam until it disappears.
  • Fabior foam is safe and effective only for external use. Do not allow the foam get in your eyes, nose, vagina, or mouth. If you get through this foam in any of these areas, rinse with water thoroughly.
  • Rinse your hands as soon as you are done with using foam.
  • You can use a moisturizer if needed while applying the foam.
  • In case you miss a dose of Fabior foam, use it asap. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go turn on with your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. Only one dose is recommendable in 24 hours.

Supply

Tazarotene Topical is used for external use only it is available in topical gel, topical cream, and topical foam form.

Storage

Fabior foam is suggested to be stored at room temperature, between 68° and 77° Fahrenheit (20° and 25° Celsius). The Foam is suggested to be stored upright. Foam should not be freeze. It is suggested to be stored away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the moisturized area like bathroom. Avoid puncturing, breaking of the container or throw it into a fire, even if the container is empty. Foam should be strictly kept away from infants and pets.

Side Effects

Some of the side effects that can be observed after application of tazarotene topical may not need medical attention. Mild and common reaction out of the drug may include: burning or stinging after application, dryness, itching, peeling, redness of the skin (mild), changes in color of the treated skin, deep grooves or lines in the skin, pain or swelling of the treated skin, skin rash. During time of 12 weeks of treatment, each local skin reaction does peak at 2nd week and deliberately deacreade thereafter with the continued use of Fabior Foam.

Warnings and Precautions

This drug may make one more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths, and sunlamps if you are getting treated with this drug. In case of extremes like, wind or cold may also be irritating to the affected skin type. Using minimum SPF 15 sunscreen daily is recommendable. Wearing protective clothing when outdoors may be good for you. Use this medication only once you are completely recovered from a sunburn.

Pediatric Use:

The safety and effectiveness of this Foam in pediatric patients under 12 years of age have not been proved. Clinical studies out of this treatment included 860 patients with 12 to 17 years of their age.

Since this drug is used for external use i.e. absorbed through the skin and may harm an unborn baby. Pregnant women should not use this medication without prescription.

Flammability:

The propellant content in Fabior Foam is highly flammable. Avoid fire, flame, or smoking during getting through this foam.
